Every Good and Perfect Gift James 1:17

Praying over the city at Kowalski’s Market.

Yesterday I posted this picture below and asked my friends what they saw in it, what these clouds looked like to them. I got some very interesting responses—dinosaurs, dogs, tables, BIG Foot—the list goes on. A friend even asked if I took this picture. Yup! It was right on Grand Avenue near Kowalski’s waiting for my Everest dinner. I miss seeing the sky—the BIG sky. In the city we do not get the same look at it as the country folk, so I was ultra-glad to capture this. Those clouds are amazing.

In the flurry of comments, a friend said, “Stonehenge”, and in that moment, I thought of all the other glorious sites there are on this planet, and how God has touched them all. Was there for them all AND inspired each of them.

James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” This EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT is everything that blesses us—even good ideas that change the world into a better place in small increments.

I try hard when think of something “good”—a kind word to share, something to give to another—to just do it. God has inspired so much “good” in the world. Let’s be part of it! Let’s plug into it. Even though we can’t make glorious cloud patterns like this, we can praise Him for them AND spread a little joy.

Dearest Heavenly Father, you are the Creator of EVERYTHING GOOD. We are so blessed by you every day. The clouds, the trees, the seas—all the wonders of the world. At times, through the day, you will touch us and move us into Your direction. When we receive those GOOD thoughts, I pray today we obey and do good for others. Whether it be a random act of kindness or an encouraging word, we are positioned to love others through you. You are an AMAZING God. Thank you for today. In Your Mighty and Holy Name…

Love you all so much. I’ll be on the road this week in Bemidji and Grand Forks looking for a little inspiration—I’m sure to find it. For now, I best get going. Much to do before I head out. Your prayers are with me. You are with me. If there’s more I can do, please let me know.
