The Golden Rule
Lately, I’ve had a lot on my mind, and it’s all because I have conflicts in my life. I didn’t ask for it. I don’t want it. Yet, sometimes, people infringe on us (or others), and the natural outcropping is to advocate for a fair balance.
We all know the GOLDEN RULE, “Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.” Most of us believe it’s the way we should live. It’s simple, yet so hard to do. We break it all the time.
It would be nice if we automatically self-corrected or responded favorably when someone tries to make us aware, but just like we break that GOLDEN RULE, too often we dig in, entrenching ourselves in the false notion that I am certainly right, and they are definitely wrong. I don’t believe fairness, justice, and compassion exist in this binary realm.
Today, I pray that I remain aware of how my choices impact others, forever open to my part, and seek what God would have me do in each moment to build more Peace, greater Love, resounding Harmony, and lasting Justice.
I can only control myself and my choices, so today, I ask the Creator, “What would you have ME do?”
I love you. May every blessing of today be yours.
“Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31; Mt. 22:39)
