I’ll Be Seeing You**
Interesting mom story…Yesterday I was thinking about my mom and wrote a post, in which, I asked her to reach out to me. If you missed it, it’s here: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=370272833951494&id=100029063405467
These were the words of my request, “It’s been more than a week now, mom, and I do miss you. Send me a sign or a dream, please. I know you’re busy spreading light, laughter, and love into all heavenly spaces, but your kid could use a hug. I love you mom!”
Just a few hours later, I’m sitting at the salon parking lot and I get a text from my dear friend, Kaitlin Susann, that reads (paraphrased): “This song keeps coming up in my random playlist and when I hear it, I think of you and your mom.”It’s Billie Holiday, “I’ll Be Seeing You.” I’ve posted all the lyrics below. I sit in my car, listening, and crying.
I get called in for my appointment. Chat with the lady about my eyebrows, lay down for the work, close my eyes, and this same Billy Holiday song begins. Yes, this SAME SONG begins again on the musack. WHAAAAAAATTTTT?!?!?
Unless you are like Kate and have this song in your playlist, in the last six months, how often have you heard this song? Let alone randomly twice in all of 10 minutes. And maybe this is all just the randomness of the cosmos, but darn it, I can’t help but think my momma told me she is with me and she is seeing me in all the familiar places.
And get this–this song was published in 1944. My mother was born in 1943. I can’t help but think she heard this often as a child. Interesting as well, my mother played the piano, and when I hear the strong keystrokes, in the beginning, I wonder if this was a song she used to play.
So many questions I wish I could ask. Some day, mom, we’ll chat again, but for now, “I’ll be seeing you.”
I’ll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day and through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children’s carousel
The chestnut trees
The wishing well
I’ll be seeing you
In every lovely summer’s day
In everything that’s light and gay
I’ll always think of you that way
I’ll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I’ll be looking at the moon
But I’ll be seeing you
I’ll be seeing you
In every lovely summer’s day
In everything that’s light and gay
I’ll always think of you that way
I’ll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I’ll be looking at the moon
But I’ll be seeing you
